Another summer is gone, as a Royals fan I'd usually say good riddance, but this year's team actually brought excitement! Sure the Royals finished 71-91 but for the first time in a long time, there is hope! I love this outfield, Alex Gordon, Melky Cabrera and Jeff Francouer all exceeded my expectations with their bats but also their arms. They led the league in assists, and it wasn't even a close race...loved seein them gun runners out at second and home, never witnessed that kind of domination in an outfield. Plus with those 3, Billy Butler and Eric Hosmer...the Royals now have a lineup that can score runs! All 5 of em finished with over 40 doubles, nearly 20 homers, around 85 rbi's. All the rookie pitchers in the bullpen were lights out too. It's exactly what was needed to make Royals fans feel like they root for a team that can actually compete. Now next year if we get a starting pitcher or 2...maybe we can finally experience October baseball for the first time since 85!

Well US soccer finally pulled the trigger and fired the men's national team coach Bob Bradley...finally! I think this should have happened a year ago, but better late than never. Welcome the German scoring machine known as Juergen Klinsmann!  This is the move that had to happen. It seems in recent matches and last years World Cup, that the men's team had reached the ceiling of what they could do under Bradley. He did get them deeper in the World Cup than the US had ever been, but it was time for a change. In comes Klinsmann who's played and coached at the highest levels possible with the German national team, and was the logical choice if the US is to make the next step and hopefully be able to seriously compete in the next World Cup. Of course it doesn't change the fact that the US has zero forwards who can score consistently, but maybe some new tactics and formations can jump start them! Never the less, good day to be a US soccer fan.

Fireworks and soccer...pretty much sums it up! Spent my fourth of July weekend working overnights at a fireworks stand. I think I was born to be a nightwatchman. Most people would struggle to stay up all night alone but thats where I excel! Borrowed a laptop from a friend and since I was more or less marooned by myself keeping an eye on explosives, naturally I just popped in season 3 of Lost and felt like Desmond trapped in the hatch pushing that damn button. But essentially I got paid to watch Lost, which is my dream job!

Soccer never stops, that's why I love it. Even after the US men's team blew the Gold Cup Final to Mexico, there's still the whole Women's World Cup happening! Not normally a womens sports kinda guy but I found myself gaining interest, especially after seeing hotties like Alex Morgan and Tobin Heath on the US team. Now that quarterfinal with Brazil was EPIC! down a man, er WOman for about an hour and then that perfect Beckham like cross from Rapinoe and Walbach finished it off to send it to penalty kicks was amazing! Maybe even more exciting than the Mens win over Algeria last summer. Now there's ManU's exhibition matches in the USA to look forward to and in a month....The EPL is back! No down season in Soccer maybe other sports should do that...I'm looking at you NFL with your 16 games a season bs. If the NFL and NBA lockouts keep going, I won't miss em a bit.
